Christmas is over! ): Oh well. Church on Tuesday was hilarious. Everyone had to come in red or green OR red and green. How festive. We had carolling by the substitute piano (The keyboard. Duh.) because they said it was more traditional. Boob and poop were making funny sounds throughout! Played silly but fun games during the program.
Exchanged gifts and Boob finally realised that I'm her Baby for the Kris Kringle. My oh my. :D
Lunched with the family and caught I Am Legend at night. I'd say it was a pretty exciting show. I had a huge shock during one part that I kicked up my legs. Really embarrassing. Luckily the next person was one seat away and not beside or I would have kicked him.
Met up with Bomb on Monday and met up with Bomb AGAIN yesterday.
Why? Because Rachel Wong that dumbo decided to pangseh us last minute. Anyway, we went to Brewerkz for dinner and the beer battered onion rings were good. (: Pizza not so good because it gave me a really hard time trying to eat it! In the midst of cutting it, bits and pieces flew off the plate and onto the floor and my dress. Really unglam. Yuck. Thats when I mastered the art of pretendnothinghappened. :D
Took a whole bunch of pictures outside (Go to Char's blog. I can't upload.) and Bomb decided that she wanted to act touristy by taking photos in front of the WELCOME TO CLARKE QUAY sign. Hoho. I exposed your secret Charmaine Tan!
Golly. School's starting in a week! Terribly horrid because I haven't played to the fullest during the past weeks. There are so many things to do, places to go and people to meet. Speaking of which I still haven't met up with Krislyn and Charis that whole bunch.
Hmm, and my new Ogl just called.
LOVE.
I need to write about my trip somewhere or I'm gonna forget about it.
Oh camp was alright. Although I'll admit that I was excited to go home. (:
Day 1
Flew off to Tokyo Narita. ANA again. Pah. The leg space didn't bother me as much as before because I was really tired from camp and kept dozing off. And why does everyone say that Stardust is nice? I found it really boring and gave up watching halfway. Flight food was terrible as always from Singapore.
Day 2
Landed and transferred to Haneda Aiport for domestic flight over to Nagasaki.
The highlight of the day was probably the Atomic bomb musuem where we got to check out stuff that they saved and preserved from the incident. The pictures and film were really gruesome, like you could see the entire skin from someone's back was gone and all that's left is a blotchy and bloody red patch. And like arms and legs everywhere.
Went to the Peace Park that was built for the incident and it was alright. Nothing really interesting to see. I mean, it looked like any other park beside the statues and all.
Took a ride up to the Glover Mansion. The whole place is really pretty and we had a bird's eye view of the city. The mansion was quite cool. It had like secret escapes for the occupants to leave through the ceiling in case anything happened. The streets along the place were quaint and there were quite a few interesting shops with things to poke around in.
Day 3
Was supposed to visit the Boiling blood pond (Some supposedly very hot hot spring that has water that looks like blood. I think we were cheated because the water just had red soil underneath and it wasn't that fascinating.) The foot bath there was alright. Not very hot and toasty for the feet. So, supposed to visit that and Harmony Land. The Hello Kitty place. But it was closed for maintainence. How sad. Was quite excited to see how the place looked like. Instead, spent the afternoon at a mall that wasn't even nice to shop in.
The best part of the day was probably cheese cake and milk at some stop we made on the way to another city. How pathetic. ): Stayed at a golf resort in the night and the toilet in the room was really strange. I couldn't find it when we entered the room and realised that there was this hole on top of the cupboard. I looked around again and realised that there was already one in the front of the room. So I opened it and Voila! I found the toilet in a closet. And there was another door separating the tub from the wash area. The tub was right next to a huge window, somewhat like the Ritz but less glamourous.
Day 4
Went up to Mount Aso via a cable car. Apparently we were lucky because they were going to stop the vistors from going up after us because the volcano (Mt Aso) was spewing too much volcanic ash and emitting toxic gases. Anyway, everything was pretty much foggy up there and we couldn't see a thing. Grabbed Sesame ice cream before we left. It was gooood. :D Best that I ate on the whole trip.
Had great Tempura Don for lunch. The texture of the noodles were smooth and it was bouncy. Very unlike the hard udon that we get here.
Stopped by yet another volcano, Sakurajima before taking a ferry on the bus across to another place en route to Ibuzuki. Went out to take pictures and the wind was super. Blowing my hair till I had curry puff hair. Oh oh I saw drink called VITTORIA. Sounds like your name boob! (: Remind me to show you the picture.
The sand bath at Ibuzuki was the bomb. You wear nothing except for the Yukata and lie down in a hole. Where the guys would shovel black sand and bury you in except for your face. The special thing about that was that the sand is special sand that creates heat and is black. So we lay there, facing the ocean, hearing the waves crash and watching the clouds go by. Really therapeutic. And better than spa! But sadly, we could only stay inside for about ten minutes. Or slightly longer. My mom was in a hurry to get out because she claimed the sand was burning her butt. I wanted to box her. :D Hot spring-ed, showered and had to leave the next city.
The hotel that we stayed in was really nice that night. Hotel Kyocera. The main building had a chapel that was built surrounded by glass and in the shaped of a triangle. And below the crucifix was a Ruby that was several hundred carats. I forgot how many exactly. Was having a fever and in a daze.
Day 5
Flew to Osaka and went to Universal Studios. The much awaited theme park since I missed out on many rides in the US one because I was too young and too short. Caught the most rides in our tour group because we rushed like mad and stopped for lunch just before the Water World show. The food was yummylicious. :D Some chicken pastry thing that was creamy and cheesy, served with chips.
The best rides were Hollywood Dream, a roller coaster where you are only strapped in at your waist witha plastic device that did not look very secure and with long and deep drops. The second was the Spiderman ride, where the vehicle that you're in flings you back and forth, left and right and with 3D effects. Not a simulator ride but one that actually moves you.
The other rides we took were like Backdraft, Back to the future, Jaws, Jurassic Park and the the Water World show.
Dinner at Shinsaibashi where the sushi was heavenly. The rice was nicer, much softer and more sticky and the other ingredients were very fresh. The best thing, it was cheaper than in Spore. Better, nicer and cheaper. How strange. Decided to stuff ourselves till we were half food and headed over to the other end to have the famous Ramen. I think it was called Jin long la mien. The soup for the noodles were really nice and we had to buy coupons for the noodles from the vending machine as part of placing our orders. Didn't have time to walk to the shopping area but bought lots of food stuffs. (More on that later.)
Day 6
Visited Osaka castle and took the Shinkansen. Headed over to the Kyomizu Temple. The day was filled mostly with taking pictures, ice cream and buying food stuffs yet again.
That night's hotel was not bad. Food was great. The whole was filled with good food and lots of eating basically. Went over to the departmental store beside the hotel and bought more food and my shorts.
Day 7
Lunched at Lake Kawaguchi where the wind was icy cold and numbing every exposed surface.
Trip up to Mount Fuji was long and boring, with my ears popping from the change in pressure. That day was also blow your nose day. I used up like countless packets of tissue and had a nice santa claus-sy bag of them at the end of the day. Went up only the the fourth station for picture shots. The fifth was closed because of the Winter weather. The sights were different and THE TOILETS. THE TOILETS. My goodness, they were so smelly, tissues were strewn everywhere and you pee/shit into this black hole that looked ancient. I was in such a hurry to run out of the toilet that I remembered to button my jeans but not belt my belt. And only realised it like hours later. The reason for the bad toilets were that water's not available on the mountain so they have to buy water up. So that explains the no flushing thing and since the toilet is already so smelly, no on wants to clean it.
Arrived in Tokyo and proceded to Sanrio Puroland. The makeup for not visiting Harmony Land. This one is so much more kiddy and childish. The space was small since it was an indoor park. The other one's outdoor and has better rides I heard. The only ride in Puroland was a retarded boat rides which seats looked like it was built for children below the age of five. But everyone took it anyway. Monkichi is really really cute. And the fake food looked good enough to eat. I'm sorry for being such a pig. (:
Caught the parades, visited Hello Kitty's house and had dinner there.
Day 8
Today's my most loved day! (: We went to Tokyo DisneySea. The rides are much more exciting and the parades are cooler than DisneyLand.
The atmosphere is slightly differently from Land because although the emphasis was on the Disney characters, they included other worlds that belonged to like Princess Jasmine, Ariel and all. So it was like a different feeling altogether.
We took a lot of rides and caught a lot of shows. But the main four rides to catch are Journey to the centre of the Earth, Raging Spirits, Indiana Jones and Tower of terror. Tower of Terror was the most exciting because taking the ride for the first time, we didn't know how much there were going to drop us and how fast. So my heart practically was left up in the air, my hands were clutching the people beside me and my bag flew up because the drop was so sudden. We sat in lift like thing and were thrown up and down. There were several times the "doors" opened and we could see the entire night view and lights of DisneySea. That was freaky because we were so high up. And everything was dark.
Lunched while watching the water parade, the smoked salmon bagel was good. (: The parades are really much grander than DisneyLand and the effects were better. Especially the night one. There were fireworks (The usual), fire coming out from the volcano and very good water effects.
Did alot of shopping there, went crazy buying the Disney tins and other Disney stuff. Luckily I don't live near a Disney place or I'd go crazy buying stuff everytime I visit.
Dinner was at a Thai restaurant. Good food again. :D Had non spicy Tom Yam soup for the first time in my life and drank loads of it. It was really sour and yummy.
Day 9
Woke up slightly later today but it was a mad rush to do last minute shopping. Searching for the places to go and the things to buy. But bought all that I could ask for in that measly two hours plus and at the airport. Finally Narita Airport carries my beloved Shiroi Koibito! Convinced my mom to stock up on that. (:
Flight back was delayed but the food was okay and we had ice cream. (:
Randoms:
1. No cute and funny bus driver this time.
2. I am such a klutz, I kept banging into stuff and dropping things.
3. I lost one side of my earrings on one day and hair pins while taking rides at Universal Studios. How dumb yet amazing that the pins flew off my head.
4. Tour people were quite a fun bunch to talk to and we had really hilarious moments when one of the guys guessed that the frog Keropi was called Keropok. Hahah. :D
5. Spent an enormous amount on food stuffs that we bought back according to my mother. She says I'm terrible because I can eat and buy so much.
6. Shopping was rather unexpected at times because our last hotel had a really good mall behind it but we didn't have the time to fully check out the place.
7. Everyone, and I mean really everyone bought at least one Burberry bag during the trip. And so did the other people on our flight. Total madness. It was as if the bags were free.
Oh golly. I can't believe its Christmas eve and we're starting school next week.
LOVE.
Where's the time
Gone in a blink of an eye
I hate to say that one month of the holiday's gone. My whole body clock is upside down. I sleep late, wake up even later and waking up early just kills me. Morning service on Sunday was tiring! I had to drag myself out of bed and reach church at ten. And it was horrible cause I felt sleepy the whole day.
I have a huge feeling that December's gonna fly by too. Church camp on Friday at some horrible farm. HOPEFULLY it will be fun, and the thought of leaving for Japan straight on the last day sucks. Yes I know, Japan again. All my trips this year keeps overlapping and making me tired when I arrive for the next. No doubt I won't sleep on the plane because its bloody ANA with pathetic leg space. I'll probably be asleep for like ten minutes and wake up because I have leg spasms.
I need to pack. Like pronto for both camp and my trip. But with motivation thats close to nothing, its highly unlikely that I'll get anything done before I leave the house. Disgusting. Am still debating with myself if I should go for double classes today since Jiaying keeps asking and asking me to go. Hmm. But, going for double classes means that I have to leave the house in two hours. And I haven't ate/showered/packed anything. Oh AND its raining. Which equals to umbrella and flicking dirty water onto my legs and my shorts. Pah. I'm grumbling and rambling.
I just realised I started above paragraphs with Is and this one too. Ah, whatever.
On a higher note, caught Enchanted on Monday and I thought it was rather nice. (:
One of the better Disney flicks since a long long time. Thai Express-ed for lunch and had our Ben and Jerry's double scoop fix. Thankyou Bird. And also for the movie food although the Nachos were a tad disgusting with watery cheese and crackers that were left outside for too long a time. Which goes to say that looks can be deceiving because arranging everything plus tissues in a nice cardboard box made us think that the Nachos were oh so good. And we were left with nothing because Kenrick Chin ate all the popcorn himself.
Alrighty, I'd better be off to do something productive.
LOVE.
I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I could say
But words get in the way
So, when we're not together
I will remember you
